In this blog post, we will discuss how to work with your auto body shop to make the insurance claim process as easy as possible.
Step 1: Get Your Car to a Safe Place
The first thing you need to do after an accident is to get your car to a safe place. If your car is not drivable, you will need to have it towed. Be sure to get the name and contact information of the towing company.
Step 2: Contact Your Insurance Company
Once you have your car to a safe place, you need to contact your insurance company. Be sure to have the following information ready:
- The date, time, and location of the accident
- The names and contact information of the other parties involved in the accident
- The police report number (if applicable)
- The damage to your car
Your insurance company will give you a claim number. You will need this claim number when you take your car to the auto body shop.
Step 3: Take Your Car to the Auto Body Shop
Once you have contacted your insurance company, you can take your car to the auto body shop. Be sure to have the following information with you:
- The claim number
- The police report (if applicable)
- The damage to your car
The auto body shop will inspect your car and give you an estimate of the repairs. They will also file a claim with your insurance company on your behalf.
Step 4: Work with Your Insurance Adjuster
Once your insurance company receives the claim, they will assign an adjuster to your case. The adjuster will contact you to schedule an inspection of your car. Be sure to be available for the inspection.
The adjuster will assess the damage to your car and determine how much your insurance company will pay for the repairs. If you are not happy with the adjuster’s decision, you can appeal it.
Step 5: Get Your Car Repaired
Once your insurance company approves the repairs, the auto body shop will begin work on your car. The shop will keep you updated on the progress of the repairs.
Once your car is repaired, the shop will contact you to let you know that it is ready for pickup. You will need to provide the shop with a copy of the insurance company’s check before you can pick up your car.
